A popular option in flexible benefits schemes, spouse and partner life cover is important for many families, especially if both partners work. The benefit helps an employee to cope financially if their husband, wife or partner dies unexpectedly.
We normally offer this cover for employees who are already members of a group life scheme provided by us. But we're happy to consider requests where the group life scheme isn't with us.
Benefits for your clients
- We can provide rates up to age 70.
- We offer a choice of payment options - employer or employee-paid (although we can only accept contributions via the employer).
- We have a wide definition of spouse and partner, allowing non-married partners to be covered as long as they're either cohabiting and share a joint financial interdependence, or jointly responsible for a child or children.
- Our simplified underwriting process means we can often provide cover on the basis of information given in the application form only.
- RED ARC bereavement support can help employees, line managers and their families to cope with the effects of terminal illness and bereavement.
Setting up a scheme
Our spouse and partner life cover is set up on an individual-life-of-another policy basis. We'll supply key features and a cost illustration for each interested employee to help them decide if the cover is right for them. To apply for cover, the employee has to complete an application form, which includes a few simple health questions to be answered by their husband, wife or partner. Cover will only start once we've let the employee know we've accepted their application.
