Changing our name

Building our brands

Scottish Equitable has been part of the AEGON Group since 1994. In 2006, we began to link the AEGON name to most of our UK brands (for example, Scottish Equitable became AEGON Scottish Equitable).

Over the next five years, our partnership with British Tennis will help make the AEGON brand better known in the UK, as well as making a real difference to the sport. We feel the time is now right to increase the link to our global identity and formally move over to the AEGON name. Over the next 12-18 months, we’re shortening the AEGON Scottish Equitable brand name to AEGON.

Why are we changing?

Increasing our emphasis on the AEGON name will allow us to improve the effectiveness of our marketing spend by concentrating our efforts on building one recognisable brand. As AEGON becomes a more international company, it will allow us to benefit from brand-building activities in other countries, such as the Ajax sponsorship in The Netherlands, and classical pianist Lang Lang’s role as an AEGON international ambassador.

This is in line with a broader trend of financial services organisations simplifying their brand portfolio.

How will the change affect existing customers?

For existing customers, all plans will continue to be contracted with Scottish Equitable plc, which remains a legal entity – the company who you have a contract with. There will be no changes to plans, contributions or direct debit arrangements because of this name change.
Therefore, if you’re an existing AEGON Scottish Equitable customer, you don’t have to do anything.

Will website addresses change?

We’ll be changing the address of this website and of some others that you might use too. Before we do, we’ll communicate the changes and put in place automatic ‘redirects’ when they take place. This means that even if you type in the old address, you’ll still get through to the right website.

What happens next?

Over the next 12-18 months more and more of our marketing literature, stationery, websites and advertising will change to AEGON branding. We’ll update this website with further information as we move over to the new name.
